About Carson National Forest

The Carson National Forest offers some of the most beautiful mountain views in the Southwest, covering 1.5 million acres in New Mexico. It’s one of five National Forests in the state. With elevations ranging from 6,000 feet to 13,161 feet at Wheeler Peak, the highest point in New Mexico, the forest is a place of natural wonder. There are plenty of activities to enjoy, including fishing, hunting, camping, and hiking, along with winter sports like skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling.
