About Kit Carson Home and Museum

The Kit Carson Home and Museum, located at 113 Kit Carson Road in Taos, is a piece of history that dates back to 1825. Kit Carson, the famed frontiersman, bought this territorial style adobe home as a wedding present for his third wife, Maria Josefa Jaramillo, who came from a well-known family in Taos. For 25 years, it was the Carson family’s home, where seven of their eight children grew up, along with several Native American children they had freed from captivity.
